Bonita Bay is offering free rentals for Team Tyndall in celebration of Independence Day. Kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddle boards will be offered at no charge July Fourth from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Free pontoon rides will also be offered from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Bonita Bay will provide a captain for the boat rides.

At 6:30 p.m., Bonita Bay will host free firework cruises. Due to limited seating, patrons can call in advance to reserve a spot.

Bonita Bay is also adding Jet Skis into their rental program. The Jet Skis rent for $40 per half hour, $75 per hour, and $200 for four hours.

“Most items we rent by half day, full day, weekend or week,” said Barbara Medlock, Bonita Bay Outdoor Recreation manager. “However, bounce houses, jet skis and power boats are a day rental only.”

To rent a Jet Ski or power boat from Bonita Bay, the operator must obtain a state of Florida boating safety course certification.

“You can get this training online at boatus.org,” Medlock added. “For power boats, we will also need to take you on a check drive to be ensure that you know how to operate the boat and to show you areas to avoid such as sand bars. For Jet Skis, there is no check drive, but you will receive a safety briefing.”
