The 325th Force Support Squadron’s Force Development Center hosted an open house event May 16, 2019, to highlight the return of the on-base college counselors for Tyndall Airmen.

The three colleges — Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Worldwide, Gulf Coast State College, and Troy University — are now available to answer questions from potential students and aid Airmen in the furtherance of their education goals.

Hurricane Michael devastated the Florida Panhandle on Oct. 10, 2018, said Heather Weekley, the Associate Campus Director for the Embry-Riddle Tyndall Campus. This catastrophic event changed many aspects of the lives of Airmen and their families, but their education should not be one of them.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Worldwide

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Worldwide has been working with U.S military service members and civilians since 1970. ERAU offers aviation and aerospace programs, and other degree options ranging from project management to engineering. Currently, the school offers 16 bachelor’s degrees and 21 master’s degree programs.

The degree delivery methods include courses in a classroom, webcam-based learning and online. Terms are offered every month and each term is nine-weeks in length.

ERAU offers six Category I AU/ABC degrees (Aeronautics, Technical Management, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Interdisciplinary Studies, Project Management, and Emergency Services), and select CCAF degrees will guarantee the student will complete no more than 60 credit hours to obtain the degree.

Gulf Coast State College

Gulf Coast State College offers numerous educational formats (including power weekend offerings) and more than 150 program options. Students can choose to take courses at Tyndall, online or at the main campus approximately 16 miles away at the base of the Hathaway Bridge.

This location supports Tyndall AFB through the National Testing Center where students can complete CLEP, DSST and/or Pearson Vue examinations. The terms generally run 16 weeks, but the college has a number of creative “fast-track” approaches to fit service member needs.

TROY offers dozens of online programs that can be completed online at both the bachelor’s and master’s level. The college offers a Military and Family Scholarship that reduces all tuition prices (Undergraduate and Graduate level) to $250 per credit hour for all active-duty military and their family members.

TROY supports AU-ABC and GEM, and has Fast-Track Masters that can be completed in one year with nine-week classes.
