Three Tyndall Lady Tiger basketball players selected to play on the Air Force basketball team and took home the silver medal in the 2008 Armed Forces Women's Championship March 20-28 at Fort Indiantown Gap, Penn.

2nd Lt. Monica Mason, 325th Mission Support Squadron officer in charge of customer service and readiness, Airman 1st Class Richere Harrison, 325th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron integrated avionics technician, and Airman 1st Class Tiffanie Guthrie, 325th Communications Squadron assistant base forms and publications manager were three Airmen selected to the team.

"I was very excited to make the team and thrilled at the opportunity to play basketball representing the entire Air Force," Lieutenant Mason said. "Making the Air Force basketball team was a personal goal of mine I set for myself when I was still playing college basketball and in Reserve Officer Training Corps, so I feel like I have accomplished something important to me."

Airman Guthrie, who is the tenth highest all-time scoring leader at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign where she played four years of college basketball to include a trip to the NCAA tournament, was enthusiastic about making the team.

"I'm glad I was afforded the opportunity to play on the Air Force Team. I've always enjoyed the competition and the intensity of playing basketball throughout college and even after," she said.

The Air Force Women's team finished behind the Navy in the Armed Forces Women Championship with a record of 4-2 to take home second place in the round-robin style tournament.

"I thought the Air Force played very hard in the tournament. I'm glad we brought home the silver, but I definitely knew we could have played a lot better then we did," Lieutenant Mason said. "The competition was great and I enjoyed myself. Hopefully I will have an opportunity to do it again next year."
