The Tyndall Base Guide is now available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Airmen and families are now able to access the new app, which includes important information about Tyndall Air Force Base and the surrounding area.

“It is essentially a one-stop-shop for all information you could possibly need about Tyndall and the local area,” said 2nd Lt. Nathanael Callon, 325th Fighter Wing public affairs officer. “The app includes base directory, places to eat off base, information about housing and lodging, newcomer information and more. It really is a great resource for Airmen and their families coming to Tyndall.”

The app also features notification pushes for gate closures, weather alerts and news updates. The app allows for emergency notifications like active shooter alerts and hurricane condition changes, allowing for faster communication. Additionally, this frees up Airmen to not rely on the giant voice system or emails to get updates.

Those that have had access the app thus far have given positive reviews.

“I think the app, with all the information accessible, will be a great tool that bridges the gap in the Tyndall sponsorship program,” said Shannon Scott, 325th Force Support Squadron community readiness consultant. “The app has the potential of providing our newcomers with a lot of needed information that they do not have access to now.”

Users will be able to get up-to-date information, since the app can be quickly updated by the 325th Fighter Wing public affairs office.

“Every time you open the app it will bring up the freshest information available from the server,” Callon said. “If you are looking for a phone number or anything else, and it is out of date, you can contact the Tyndall public affairs office, and we will make changes to reflect the new information. There’s no need to wait for app updates, as it is a living document.”

This app combines everything you could possibly need to know about Tyndall and puts it in one place on your phone. It is a useful app for anyone, and it is free to download on both smartphone app stores, Callon added.

The Tyndall Base Guide was the result of an off-site training visit with a software design company in Panama City, where the issue of getting information Airmen need became a topic of conversation.

The company engineered the app as a prototype, through multiple focus groups and beta testing, the Tyndall Base Guide was born.

“I think users will be really surprised with how much information is on this app, and how quickly everything responds,” Callon said. He continued to say that it is different from other base apps he’s used, where the information is not in logical order and the app is slow to respond.

“We are excited for people to start downloading the app and giving us feedback about it. More importantly, we hope the Tyndall Base Guide is a resource that people use and share with their family and friends,” Callon said.
