When thinking of the holiday season, generally three things come to mind: family, friends and food.

However, there are many Tyndall Airmen who will be spending their holidays away from their family and friends this year, possibly for the first time.

Luckily, the Checkertail Elves (325th Fighter Wing spouses) are working with Team Tyndall First Sergeants and anyone else from Team Tyndall who is willing to help by baking some delicious cookies for our Airman, said Chief Master Sgt. Ray DeVite, 325th Fighter Wing command chief.

The program is intended to bring a little bit of home and Christmas cheer their way.

"Checkertail Elves will be waiting out front of the commissary from 7 to 9 a.m. on Dec. 9 to receive cookies for their annual Cookie Caper program," said Jamee Graff, wife of Col. David E. Graff, 325th Fighter Wing commander. "You don't even have to get out of your car; drive by in your jammies and our elves will be standing by to grab the cookies from you."

The Cookie Caper is designed to make the holiday season a little brighter for the first-term Airmen.

"We do this event to show some love to the newest Airman, joining Team Tyndall, living in the dormitories," added Graff. "What better way to say, we love you and Merry Christmas, than with a dozen homemade cookies? "

The Cookie Caper Cookie Elves need 450-dozen cookies this year to make sure all the Airmen receive cookies.

"We all benefit from this program," said Graff. "This time of year is such a fun time to reflect on our blessings here at Tyndall. I think it makes a happy heart to be able to bless the newest members of Team Tyndall. It is so much fun to stand in front of the commissary and see all the people that drive up to deliver the goodies. Many people look forward to the Cookie Caper each and every year. And, I know the young Airman enjoy receiving some homemade goodies."
