1/26/2009 - TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- One Airman from Tyndall Air Force Base is going above and beyond.
While having to juggle between being a loving husband, a caring father of four and United States Air Force military member, Tech. Sgt. Scott Linza, 823rd Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineers prime readiness-in-base services contingency instructor, managed to release a music compact disc.
"Some people produce music for the fame or fortune, but I'm doing it to give back to the church," said the sergeant.
His Christian CD titled "I Worship You Only," was released Nov. 9. The CD consists of 10 tracks.
"I haven't really thought of what song is my favorite(s)," he said. "I enjoyed recording all of them because it has always been a dream of mine."
"My wife was very supportive (who helped co-write a number of songs)," he said. "Also, I have a lot of good friends who lent their hands."
Since a very young age, music has been a big part of his life. He was playing the piano at the age of 5. He played parts in a number of school musicals and joined church choirs and college chorals.
"Scott has loved music since the age of two and has always been a giving and caring person," said Connie Linza, Sergeant Linza's mother.
From participating in concerts at the base chapel while stationed at Anderson Air Force Base to leading a weekly "Praise and Worship Service" during a deployment to the desert, Sergeant Linza has been involved in music even during his service in the military.
"Writing music is relaxing for me, it helps me stay focused," he said.
Currently, Sergeant Linza has been involved with the High Praise Worship Center located in Calloway, Fla. He has played the piano and keyboard for the local church ministry since 1997.
At the 823rd RHS, Sergeant Linza instructs the service's career field Airman wartime mortuary, lodging, fitness, recreation and food service.
"We prepare Airman for when they deploy," said Sergeant Linza. "We give them real-world scenarios throughout the week and have them prepare for a Basic Expeditionary Airfield Resources (BEAR) Base deployment."
Two of Sergeant Linza's songs have been played by a radio station that broadcast between New Orleans and Pensacola, Fla.
"A goal of mine would be to come out with another CD within the next year and a half," said Sergeant Linza.
The CD can be bought from Napster, ITunes, Amazon, Payplay, Tradebit or cdbaby.com. For bulk orders, individuals can contact scott@scottlinzamusic.com
