8/3/2012 - TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla.  -- Senior Airman Jacob Jacobs, 325th Maintenance Squadron precision guided munitions crew member was recently awarded the Air Dominance Division's 2011 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile Outstanding Performer of the Year Award.

Airman Jacobs is a native of Olympia, Wash.

He credits his win to being proficient with the AMRAAM missile system and he is also humbled by the award.

"Winning an Air Force-level award is a real honor," said Airman Jacobs. "I feel very privileged to have won it."

Airman Jacobs has been in the Air Force for only a handful of years and joined because he wanted the opportunity to do something different and worthwhile. Tyndall is his fist duty station.

"I have been at Tyndall for four years," Airman Jacobs said. "What I like most is that there is always something to do here. There is no such thing as a dull moment."

He said the best part about his job here is the people that he works with.

"Myself and the people that I work with are the only active duty personnel that do this job," said Airman Jacobs. "It's awesome when you sit down and think about it."

His team members speak highly of him as well.

"Airman Jacobs was a quick learner when he arrived at PGM and continues to amaze me with his ability to excel in a shop as technical as this one," said Tech. Sgt. William Reeves, 325th MXS PGM. "He is well deserving of this award."
