9/7/2012 - TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla.  -- The Air Force's Military Personnel Data System is scheduled for an approximate 23-day outage beginning in December.

During this time, the MilPDS will undergo an upgrade to improve the reliability and security of the program.

"MilPDS is the Air Force's human resources data system that is centrally run by AFPC at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas," said Capt. Majorie Molloy, 325th Force Support Squadron manpower and personnel flight commander. "Air Force personnelists access it throughout the world to maintain the personnel records of all active duty, Guard and Reserve Air Force personnel."

The outage is not without obstacles.

"Not only will my Military Personnel Section be unable to access Tyndall Airmen's personnel records, Air Force Personnel Center will be unable to, as well," said Captain Molloy. "This will require forethought from both the MPS and Tyndall's Airmen. Tyndall's MPS is running a time-phased checklist to ensure continued operations and to minimize impact to the base population, beginning with next week's briefings."

The briefings are scheduled for Sept. 10 and 12 at 9.a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Horizons Community Center and Sept. 11 and 13 at 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. at the 53rd Weapons Evaluation Group auditorium.

"I would recommend to any Airman who is considering or undergoing a major personnel action in December or January ... reenlistment, extension, retirement, assignment, promotion, separation, etc., attend a briefing, and supervisors should consider attending as well," said Captain Molloy. "The MPS will still be able to provide these services, but application deadlines are earlier to ensure the system is updated prior to the outage."

The MPS will remain open during normal hours throughout outage and is working a phased implementation plan set out by AFPC.
