Exercise Bamboo Eagle 26-1 tested the Air Force’s ability to generate and sustain combat airpower from dispersed locations, with the 325th Fighter Wing operating as a spoke site at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona. Unlike traditional centralized exercises, Airmen executed missions across vast distances under simulated attacks, degraded communications and logistical challenges, forcing rapid decision-making with limited information. The around-the-clock operations emphasized flexibility, joint integration and the ability to adapt in a contested environment, reinforcing readiness for future combat operations.
Maj. Elizabeth Kuss, the first aeromedical nurse practitioner at Tyndall Air Force Base, bridges medicine and mission through a role built on trust, readiness and service. From earning a rare challenge coin from a cancer survivor she treated to advising commanders on medical risk, Kuss balances patient care with operational demands as one of roughly 50 aeromedical nurse practitioners across the Air Force. Her work reflects a growing career field still defining itself, one that plays a critical role in keeping Airmen healthy, ready and mission capable.
Live-fire training advances air dominance in WSEP 25.09

Tyndall Air Force Base hosted Weapons System Evaluation Program (WSEP) Combat Archer 25.09, Sept. 8–19, 2025. The exercise brought together aircraft from multiple bases to conduct live-fire missile testing against full-scale and subscale drones. WSEP validated weapons systems while giving aircrews, maintainers and weapons loaders rare hands-on experience with live ordnance. Held six to eight times a year, WSEP leverages Tyndall’s 180,000-square-mile Gulf Coast training range to provide realistic large-scale training, reinforcing the base’s role as the nation’s proving ground for air dominance.
325th Communications Squadron sharpens combat skills in exercise GATR AID

Airmen from the 325th Communications Squadron conducted exercise Ground-to-Air Transmit and Receive Aid, or GATR AID, at Tyndall Air Force Base. The training was designed to strengthen tactical skills and operational readiness by moving communications Airmen beyond their traditional support roles. Scenarios included village approaches, simulated improvised explosive devices, and force-on-force reactions, with Airmen operating Humvees and carrying rifles to mirror real-world conditions. The exercise was a collaborative effort with Security Forces, Logistics Readiness, Civil Engineer Squadrons and RED HORSE units, which provided essential equipment and facilities. GATR AID reflects the Air Force’s broader shift toward preparing all Airmen to operate effectively in contested environments.
