The 325th Fighter Wing was officially reassigned from Air Education and Training Command to Air Combat Command, Ninth Air Force, during a formal ceremony Oct. 1 in Hangar 1.

The event featured remarks from Maj. Gen. Timothy Zadalis, AETC director of intelligence, operations and nuclear integration, Maj. Gen. Lawrence Wells, Ninth Air Force commander, and the Brig. Gen. John McMullen, 325th FW commander.

General Zadalis wished the wing good luck and farewell.

"Tyndall and the 325th FW have no greater fan than AETC," said General Zadalis. "We will take great pride in watching this base continue to soar under the leadership of General Wells and the 9th Air Force ... and we know in the future you will remain above all."

Meanwhile, the 9th Air Force commander welcomed the wing to its new major command.

"You have already embraced the ACC motto of 'people first, mission always,'" said General Wells. "We look forward to a bright future with boundless opportunities, as we continue to fly, fight and win as America's Air Force."

Headquarters U.S. Air Force made the decision to reassign the 325th FW. This move will allow the Air Force to consolidate F-22 Raptors. The reassignment is the first step in bringing a combat-coded F-22 squadron, T-38 Talon detachment and just over 1,000 additional Airmen to Tyndall.

The 325th FW commander is ready and excited to take on the new challenge.

"This is another significant milestone in the history of the 325th FW," said General McMullen. "For the last 30 plus years our mission has been to train Airmen and it has been a proud tradition ... But, now we have to be prepared to project combat power across the globe."
