325th FSS named best in AETC third year in a row Published Dec. 19, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Veronica McMahon 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla. -- The 325th Force Support Squadron proved to be Air Education and Training Command's finest for the third year in a row when they recently won the Maj. Gen. Eugene L. Eubank award, which recognizes the best small force support squadron in the Air Force. The award's purpose is to encourage excellence in force support programs Air Force wide. The significance of this award is that it recognizes team effort and doesn't single out any one or any group of individuals It is received by the small-unit winners in the command, while the Gen. Curtis E. LeMay award is received by the large-unit winner. "By winning at the command level, I feel like we've made it to the playoffs," said Lt. Col. Michael Lamb, 325th FSS commander. "Now it's on to the Super Bowl. It will be a tremendous challenge. Many of the squadrons we're competing against have yet to merge, and frankly, I'm not sure how we're going to be able to show the evaluation team all the wonderful aspects of our organization in the short time we have allotted." The 325th FSS will proceed to compete at the Air Force level for the John L. Hennessy award, which was also claimed by Team Tyndall in 2008. The Hennessy Award Program is an annual competition for bragging rights of the best food service program in the Air Force. "Being selected to represent AETC at the Air Force level is a huge honor," said Chief Master Sgt. Cortland Saunders Jr., 325th FSS superintendent. "The creation of the 325th Force Support Squadron merged two premier customer-focused organizations and we look forward to validating that not only are we the best in AETC, but we're the best FSS in the entire Air Force." The Hennessy Award team will be here to evaluate Team Tyndall Feb. 2-3.
