Low lights, music and lavish décor set the scene for the 66th Annual Air Force Ball and its more than 600 attendees at the Horizons Community Center, Sept. 14.

"We really wanted to create an event that would appeal to everyone," said Master Sergeant Alicia Barr, Air Force Ball chairperson. "This was the first year we had our ball on base and we had one of the largest turnouts Tyndall has seen. We were able to give back to our Team Tyndall family as well as put money back into our base facilities."

With purchase of tickets, attendees enjoyed all-you-can-eat food selections in a salsa themed room, a jazz room and an elegant ball room.

"The evening was fabulous! The ball was so different than any other ball I've been too," said Staff Sgt. Ursula Askew, 53rd Test Support Squadron client system technician. "The food was fantastic, the Horizons looked amazing and people were having a great time together. It is nights like those that make me love being in the Air Force!"

This year's focus wasn't directed towards the formalities of tradition but towards an evening dedicated to every day heroes leading the fight.

"There is so much going on at Tyndall as we've been transitioning into the combat-coded mindset," said Master Sergeant Alicia Barr, Air Force Ball chairperson. "With high operations tempo, deployments and the stressors of everyday life, it's now more important than ever to support each other. The ball was an evening to digress from whatever stressors our Team Tyndall members may have and to enjoy an evening of great music, delicious food and fun camaraderie."
