One month after Hurricane Michael devastated the 325th Fighter Wing, rebuilding is well underway and signs of normalcy are beginning to return to Tyndall.

Thanks to the 325th Force Support Squadron, mail delivery is one sign of normalcy that has been restored to the various units on base.

The 325th FSS mail operations are now operating out of a nearby building and anticipate being there temporarily. Mail delivery is slated to be fully operational beginning Nov. 13.

“There are two different sides running in here, we have dorm mail and what we do, the official mail side,” said Airman 1st Class Gerald Johnson, 325th FSS official mail technician.

The technicians returned two weeks after Hurricane Michael struck and have been working to restore mail delivery across the installation.

“We’ve been delivering our mail with the squadrons that are on base,” said Airman 1st Class Isabella Opichka, 325th FSS official mail technician.

Customers will be using the same addresses and should include, “tent city,” base lodging, or the dormitory to aid the technicians during the sorting process, Opichka added.

The mail center is experiencing a backlog of mail to the dorms, but the official mail delivery is improving, Opichka said.

For those on the installation who need to utilize the mail center, it is currently operating out of the 325th Mission Support Group building at 445 Suwannee Rd, Bldg. 662/Room 157.

U.S. Post Office services will be available via mobile vehicle in the rear parking lot of building 662.
