Our office offers a full range of legal assistance to active duty members (including National Guard and Reservists on Title 10 status), dependents, and retirees regardless of service branch or unit assignment. Attorneys are available to answer legal questions and offer advice by scheduling an appointment. Note that we cannot provide legal advice by phone or email.
The Air Force Legal Assistance website offers general information on common legal assistance subjects, such as identity theft and landlord-tenant issues. The information can be accessed by visiting https://aflegalassistance.law.af.mil and selecting the "Legal Information" icon at the top of the webpage. Power of Attorney and Notary
The Tyndall AFB Legal Office can create and notarize various powers of attorney. A power of attorney is a legal document that authorizes another person to act on your behalf. There are two main types:
General power of attorney--gives the holder the ability to act on your behalf in almost any legal or business matter.
Special power of attorney--grants the holder the ability to do something specific on your behalf, such as sell a vehicle or access a bank account.
To create a power of attorney, visit https://aflegalassistance.law.af.mil. Click on the "Legal Worksheets" tab. Scroll to the middle of the page and click "Create Power of Attorney (POA) Worksheet." You will then be able to select the appropriate power of attorney to meet your needs.
It will take approximately 10 minutes to complete the worksheet. When you are done, bring your ticket number to the Tyndall AFB Legal Office during customer service hours to complete your power of attorney. An attorney will print and notarize the power of attorney free of charge.
Notary services are also available on a walk-in basis during customer service hours.
Wills
The Tyndall AFB Legal Office prepares Last Wills and Testaments for active duty, retired military members, and dependents.
To set up an appointment, call (850) 283-3233 to request a will worksheet which will be emailed to you. When you are done, email the worksheet back and you will be contacted to schedule an appointment to meet with an attorney to complete your will.
Exceptional Family Members Program
The Tyndall Legal Office can also assist families wishing to learn about their rights through EFMP. The Exceptional Family Members Program is a Department of Defense program offered to all active-duty members with family members who have long-term general medical, special education, early intervention, or modified housing needs. If you qualify, you can enroll in EFMP to benefit from medical, assignment, and family support services.
Our office can help guide you through this process as well as provide legal advice regarding the federal right to free, appropriate public education, advanced estate planning (special needs trusts), guardianship proceedings, and PCS and deployment concerns.

Claims
Our office also processes claims, both for and against the Air Force arising out of incidents occurring at/on Tyndall AFB locations, as well as incidents that may occur off-base if it meets certain requirements. To file a claim, please contact our office or stop by during customer service hours to complete an SF 95 Form.
Military Pro Bono
Finally, if you are seeking legal assistance that requires representation, you may be eligible to be referred by one of our attorneys for the Military Pro Bono Program. This program is available to active-duty service members at rank E-6 or below, as well as member spouses seeking a divorce or protective order from the service member. Our attorneys can determine your eligibility for this program during your legal assistance appointment as they deem necessary.
