Mission
The 325th Training Support Squadron manages training resources and conducts unrivaled academic and realistic simulator training to produce America's Air Dominance Team of F-22 pilots, air battle managers and intelligence officers for worldwide assignment. This highly specialized unit is assigned to the 325th Operations Group, 325th Fighter Wing at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida.
History
The 325th Training Support Squadron was activated on January 28, 2011 at Tyndall Air Force Base to consolidate and integrate several Air Dominance operations training functions. The "Black Bears" are mission focused experts producing tomorrow's Air Dominance warriors with unsurpassed training realism. Specifically, the unit is responsible for conducting F-22 pilot academic and simulator training as well as 4th Generation fighter aircraft academic and simulator training in support of air battle manager training and visiting F-15 units. Squadron personnel are also responsible for F-22 pilot and air battle manager syllabus and courseware development efforts. This specialized squadron manages F-22 pilot and air battle manager student registrar functions, the fighter wing's Graduate Training Integration Management System (GTIMS), operations scheduling, facility security and contract oversight. Squadron members direct Air Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (ACMI) operations conducted over 3,400 square miles of training ranges.
The squadron's emblem is symbolic of this multifaceted training support mission in the 325th Fighter Wing. The emblem's disc is a radiating field of red that depicts the strength, speed and energy required to secure air dominance for our nation. On that field rests a large Air Force blue star representing the five vital components of the squadron - active duty, civilian, guard, reserve and retiree members. Out of this force comes the squadron's mascot, the black bear.
The extremely adaptable black bear, indigenous to the region where the squadron was first activated, is characteristically sure-footed as it trains its young in basic survival skills and protects its young at all costs. The bear's claws represent the squadron's diverse flights and out of their actions come the final product, two vectored fighters emblazoned in Air Force yellow. Blue and yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue represents the sky, the primary domain of Air Force operations, while Air Force yellow represents the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. Finally, the two fighters signify the basic fighter flight and the well executed turn in their flight path symbolizes the direction provided by air battle managers. Above and beneath the disc are white scrolls outlined in black. In the upper scroll, the motto, "Disciplina Pro Bellum" (Training for War) is depicted in black letters. The lower scroll contains 325th Training Support Squadron the squadron designation, also in black letters.
