COLONEL ORLANDO SANCHEZ JR.

Colonel Orlando Sanchez is the Vice Commander, 325th Fighter Wing, Air Education and Training Command, Tyndall AFB, Fla. The 325th Fighter Wing consists of more than 4,000 personnel who train F-22 pilots, air battle managers, intelligence officers, maintainers, and other support specialties for worldwide assignment to combat air force units. The 325th Fighter Wing is also host to 1st Air Force (AFNORTH), 601st Air Operations Center, 53d Weapons Evaluation Group, AFCESA, AFRL, and Silver Flag. The Wing provides support to more than 23,000 Airmen.

Colonel Sanchez was commissioned in 1993 after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the U.S. Air Force Academy. His assignments include flying duties in the F-15C as a graduate and instructor at the USAF Weapons Instructor Course, as well as a flight commander, squadron and wing weapons, and flight safety officer. After being selected to test the F-22 during follow-on evaluations, he served as the F-22 division commander at Nellis Air Force Base, the operations officer for the 525 FS and then commander of the 90th Fighter Squadron at Elmendorf AFB. Prior to his assignment at Tyndall AFB, he attended the NATO Defense College in Rome, Italy. He is a command pilot with over 2,100 hrs in the F-15C and F-22.
