(EX EX EX) HURCON 1R: TYNDALL RECOVERY (EX EX EX) - Thursday, August 14, 2025

(EXERCISE EXERCISE EXERCISE)

TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. – Tyndall Air Force Base officials have moved to HURCON 1R, recovery, and ordered all non-essential personnel to remain indoors. A HURCON 1R warning level indicates destructive winds have subsided and are no longer forecast to occur.

Tyndall members should know:

  1. Surface winds exceeding 58 mph are no longer occurring and storm has passed.
  2. The installation and its facilities will remain closed while damage/hazard surveys are being conducted.
  3. Non-essential functions remain closed unless directed otherwise by the wing commander.
  4. All members except emergency personnel should remain in quarters until further notice.

Under no circumstances should base personnel disobey civil law enforcement, or disaster preparedness officials, or report for duty until directed.

 

Personnel are not authorized to assist local civilians in clean up while in military uniform, exept when representing the U.S. Air Force by order of the 325th Fighter Wing commander or a designated representative.

 

Military personnel are not cleared to return to the local area and should remain at their Safe Haven locations. Members should contact leadership for further guidance.

(EX EX EX) TYNDALL MOVES TO HURCON 1 (EX EX EX) - Wednesday, August 13, 2025

In response to Hurricane Daniel, Tyndall Air Force Base officials have moved to Hurricane Condition level 1. This warning level means the hurricane has become a potential threat to Tyndall with destructive winds possible within 12 hours.

Daniel’s forecast intensity has slightly lowered from 130kts to 120kts max sustained winds at landfall. Expecting high chances of Tornadic activity, as well as flash flooding in many areas around Panama City and Tyndall AFB. Currently, the impact cone is centered on Panama City Beach, but exact landfall location of worst impact is too early to tell

All non-mission essential personnel and families at Tyndall AFB have evacuated. Aircraft at the base have evacuated or been secured.

(EX EX EX) TYNDALL ORDERS BASE EVACUATION (EX EX EX) - Wednesday, August 13, 2025

Due to Hurricane Daniel, Tyndall Air Force Base officials have ordered the evacuation of all non-essential personnel living on and off the installation. All personnel living in Bay County are ordered to evacuate per Installation Commander. All non-essential personnel living in the affected areas are authorized to begin evacuating by 5 p.m., Aug. 12, 2025, and must depart the local area no later than 2 p.m., Aug. 13, 2025.

This applies to all military and civilian members assigned to Tyndall AFB. Members are authorized to travel to Safe Haven locations greater than 100 miles and less than 350 miles with reimbursement. Evacuees are ordered to bring all animals with them.

This is an addition to the limited evacuation notice for personnel residing in Franklin, Gulf, Leon, Liberty, and Wakulla Counties.

Members will communicate with unit leadership on their location during the evacuation and subject to recall upon notification. Personnel should work with their chain of command if they have financial concerns. The status of the base, return-to-duty information and other updates will be posted on the Tyndall Facebook page and www.tyndall.af.mil/Hurricane-Season

Local authorities will close the Dupont Bridge when winds reach 40 miles per hour and an alternate route must be taken.

(EX EX EX) Weather Update (EX EX EX) - Wednesday, August 13, 2025

(Exercise Exercise Exercise)

•The 325th Weather Flight is continuing to monitor Hurricane Daniel located in the southern Gulf of America. The storm continues to intensify and is expected to increase in intensity as it moves north north-east.

•Daniel is expected to make landfall over the central pan-handle as a category 4 hurricane, impacting Panama City, Florida. Increased winds are expected to begin Wed night at 2300L and increase to hurricane force winds by Thurs, 0400L.

•Tyndall AFB is expecting high chances of tornadic activity, as well as flash flooding in many areas on and around station associated with the hurricane. Please reach out to the 325th Weather Flight if you have any questions or concerns.

•Possible Tyndall impacts:

•9-12” of rainfall, isolated areas could be higher

•Tornadic activity

•Flash flooding

•Storm surge 12-15 feet

(Exercise) Tyndall Air Force Base officials have moved to Hurricane Condition level 2. This condition means 50 knot winds are forecasted to arrive at Tyndall AFB within 24 hours. (Exercise) Due to Hurricane Daniel, Tyndall Air Force Base officials have ordered a limited evacuation of personnel residing in Franklin, Gulf, Leon, Liberty, and Wakulla Counties. Individuals residing in these counties are authorized to begin evacuating by 6 a.m., Aug. 13, 2025, and must depart the local area no later than 3 p.m., Aug. 13, 2025.

This applies to all military and civilian members assigned to Tyndall AFB. Members are authorized to travel to Safe Haven locations greater than 100 miles and less than 350 miles with reimbursement. Evacuees are ordered to bring all animals with them.

Members will communicate with unit leadership on their location during the evacuation and subject to recall upon notification.

Additionally, in response to potential impacts of Hurricane Daniel, Tyndall Air Force Base officials have directed the closures of facilities beginning 13 Aug.

What is the Difference Between a Hurricane and a Typhoon?
They are called hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, and eastern Pacific Ocean. But once you go west across the International Dateline and into the western Pacific Ocean, they're called typhoons.

Hurricane/Typhoon Facts

  • Winds blow in a large spiral around a relative calm center known as the eye. The eye is generally 20 to 30 miles wide and the storm may extend outward 400 miles.
  • As it approaches, the skies will begin to darken and winds will grow in strength. As it nears land, it can bring torrential rains, high winds, and a storm surge.
  • They can last for more than two weeks over open waters.
  • Hurricane season is from 1 June through 30 November with the peak months being August and September.
  • Typhoon season is 1 January through 31 December; however 95 percent of typhoons occur after 1 May.
