As Quality of Life investments start to pay off around Tyndall, one investment is a strike in the right direction.

The wellbeing of Tyndall’s Airmen and their families is a top priority for senior leaders here, and each investment is aimed at making Tyndall a great place to work and live.

The renovation of Raptor Lanes began late 2016.

Currently on schedule, the renovation used approximately $11,000 of the original $13,000 budget that was set aside.

“This project will result in our Airmen having one more activity for their leisure,” said Maj. Rose Englebert, 325th Force Support Squadron commander. “Providing amenities for our Airmen allows them to be able to enjoy their down time, working hard allows you to play hard.”

Some of the changes customers will see include a brand new scoring system with social media connectivity, 18 brand new 42-inch televisions, a new sound system, updated bowling seating and high top tables, new carpet and tile flooring, and a recently renovated snack bar and seating area with a new digital menu.

“Our Airmen and their families are our foundation,” said Chief Master Sgt. Deborah A. Parsons, 325th Force Support Squadron chief enlisted manager. “We want them to have a safe and fun place that allows them to have a great time.”

A late addition to the renovation project is a pair of indoor playgrounds for children. The current arcade area will be simplified in order to accommodate for the two playgrounds.

The larger of the two will occupy about half of the entertainment area and is designed for children ages 6-12, and the smaller will have its own 8-foot by 8-foot section for children ages 5 and under.

Tyndall Airmen should be supported with the finest amenities, Parsons said.

“We have begun to see a strong correlation between quality of life and quality of work,” Parsons said. “It is a priority to take care of our Airmen and their families and anything that can be done to better their well-being will be considered.”

Raptor Lanes has continued to support bowling leagues throughout construction and expects an uptick in league participation once the project is finished.

The facility will continue to operate under its current hours but will flex operating hours during the summer to cater to families with children during summer vacation.
