TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The free annual Eggstravaganza event will be hosted here April 15 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Tyndall’s Youth Center baseball fields.
The seasonal event, open to all participants with base access, will have bouncing castles for children, a variety of booth games, DJ booth, an arts and crafts station, a shaved ice station and the main event, the egg hunt.
“This is a great event opportunity for families to spend time together,” said Matthew Kuhl, 325th Force Support Squadron Youth Center director. “Our main goal for this event is ‘Family Fun’. That means fun for everyone--adults and kids.”
Over 12,000 eggs will be hidden in the different baseball fields, but to make it fair for all age groups, this year’s egg hunt will be staggered by age group beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The schedule is as follows:
Approximately 500 people attended last year’s event and Kuhl expects that number to almost double if the weather permits. Last year the event had to be moved indoors due to rain delays and if it rains this year it will be no different.
“Last year we went with our inclement weather plan, and it was so good that some people hope that it rains again,” Kuhl said.
Water, cookies and refreshments will be provided, so it is recommended to bring snacks. Other recommendations are sunscreen, bug spray, umbrellas and picnic blankets.
“This is a great opportunity to create memories with your family,” Kuhl said. “It’s always great to get out there in the nice fresh air, the green grass and get a picture with the bunny. To create those long-lasting family memories is why we do it.”
