TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The 325th Medical Group celebrated Nurse and Medical Technician Week from May 6 to May 12. This week served as a way to show gratitude for everything these medical professionals do for the Tyndall community.
“The purpose of nurses week is to recognize all of the hard work nurses and medical technicians do on a day-to-day basis,” said Capt. Shauna Sokolowski, 325th Medical Operations Squadron pediatric clinical nurse. “It’s a great way to say ‘thank you’ and show appreciation for our medical staff.”
According to the American Nurses Association, National Nurses Week began in 1974 when President Richard Nixon issued a proclamation designating a week to recognize the men and women in the nursing profession.
The 325th Medical Group planned several events in recognition of Tyndall’s nurses and medical technicians. The week began with a celebratory breakfast and ended with cake and ice cream.
This week not only showed appreciation for Tyndall’s medical staff, but it also increased morale amongst the 325th Medical Group’s Airmen.
“This week of appreciation serves as a morale booster for Tyndall’s nurses and med-techs,” Sokolowski added. “It is our job to help produce mission-ready Airmen, and it is nice to be reminded that the work you do every day has a meaningful impact.”
The passion for their job keeps Tyndall nurses and medical technicians ready at all times for their responsibility to maintain mission readiness for Airmen and their families.
“It’s rewarding to see my patients receive the answers they were looking for,” said Senior Airman Catherine Tracy, 325th MDOS aerospace medical technician. “That’s what makes all of my hard work worth it in the end.”
Nurses and medical technicians play a vital role in keeping Team Tyndall mission-ready to train and project unrivaled combat air power.
