The 325th Fighter Wing Chapel is hosting a free Trunk or Treat event at the Tyndall Homes Community Center Oct. 31, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Trunk or Treat is an event that offers trick or treating down a row of spooky and fun decorated vehicles, and food and fun for the whole family.

“We want to bring the Tyndall community together for an evening of fun,” said Capt. Robert Tilley, a chaplain with the 325th FW. “In addition to our chapel staff, we’ve got volunteers from a variety of different organizations, squadrons and others who simply want to encourage and give back to our families on base.”

It is free for Airmen and their families, and they will be able to enjoy games booths, food and other activities.

“For those folks worried about a quick dinner, we’ll be providing chili dogs and refreshments for all of our visitors,” Tilley said. “It should be an all-around fun time between the games, the costumes and the candy.

“It’s a chance for the kids to not only enjoy the trick or treat theme of the evening, but also an opportunity to see different and creative vehicle displays volunteers will be making,” Tilley added.

Trunk or Treat gives families and their children an opportunity to have a fun family outing and a chance for children to double-up on treats by coming to the event, then going to houses to continue trick or treating.

“This event is a small way to say thanks, not only to the men and women who wear the uniform, but also to the family members who support them 24/7,” Tilley said. “We know it’s just cars and candy, but we believe that having fun together can be a small building block towards building better trust and a better community with each other.”

Volunteer opportunities are available for those who want to be a part of this fun-filled event. For more information on volunteering or Trunk or Treat, call the chapel at (850) 283-2925.
