TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Keeping with the spirit of the season, the Tyndall Base Library is slated to host a Halloween Story Time event Oct. 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the library.
The event will allow Tyndall children the chance to dress up in Halloween garb, listen to spooky stories, have snacks and make decorations with supplies provided by the library staff and volunteers.
“The library staff have been working to organize the event,” said Julianne Saratsis, 325th Force Support Squadron library technician. “We've been gathering decorations and deciding on age-appropriate crafts. We've also been asking for volunteers to read one of the Halloween stories to the children. This special story time will be held in our program room, a separate place within the library, so that we can decorate and play with the lighting as needed.”
During the event, volunteers from the library will entertain those in attendance by dressing up and reading Halloween themed stories. The stories on the reading list are “Bonaparte Falls Apart,” “Boo! Haiku” and “Creepy Underwear.”
This year’s event is a continuation of the library’s regularly scheduled story time program, with a special theme, aimed at getting the youth interested in reading regularly.
As the event draws near, the Tyndall Base Library and its partners are practicing their spooky voices and faces in anticipation of the Halloween Story Time.
“We are grateful to have many faithful patrons of the library,” Saratsis said. “This may be a small Halloween event compared to others on base or in the community, but it is a chance for children and their parents to make connections with other families at Tyndall, and to celebrate the love of stories as well as share in the holiday spirit.”
