TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The 325th Force Support Squadron is slated to host a zombie themed 5k at the 823rd Red Horse Squadron’s Silver Flag site April 28, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
The “Running Dead” 5k obstacle course is an event that Airmen, their families and the general public can participate in for $45, or a reduced price with the use of the promotional code “Tyndall15.”. The price of the event includes a dry-wick performance event T-Shirt, free drink voucher and a military-style challenge event coin.
“[The event] is slightly longer than a 5K and will have up to 15 obstacles to challenge runners,” said Maj. Ryan Davis, 325th FSS operations officer. “In addition, runners will be chased at each obstacle by zombies trying to remove their lifelines; two football-style flags.”
In addition to the run, various amenities will be available to the participants.
Along with the drink voucher, food vendors will be available as well as music and a bouncy castle for kids, Davis explained. Also, local sponsors will also have tables to visit.
To ensure proper hydration of runners, stations will be placed and marked along the running path.
Davis and other members of the 325th FSS urge Airmen to participate in the event to enjoy family and fun in the sun.
“[The event is a] fun, unique event held at a part of the base most personnel would not venture to. It’s not your normal base run, and you will get to immerse yourself in your favorite zombie/Walking Dead adventure with your family and friends.”
