Team Tyndall’s First Sergeant Association picked up roughly 350 care packages for deployed military members as part of a partnership with the Lynn Haven community, July 19, 2018.

Through this close partnership with the local community, Team Tyndall was able to provide input as to what may be best suited to fill the care packages with. The care packages included items ranging from toiletries and snack foods to playing cards as well as notes and letters.

U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Michael Busha, 325th Maintenance Squadron first sergeant, and a number of other senior enlisted personnel from Team Tyndall collected the packages from the community and will be preparing them for shipment to the deployed locations.

“We’re here today to pick up 350 care packages that the Lynn Haven community put together for deployed personnel down-range,” Busha said.

Busha noted the affects a care package like this could have on a deployed members morale.

“Packages like these are important to people down-range for a variety of reasons,” Busha continued. “A six-month or year-long deployment can be a long time, and a package from home means all the world [and] speaks volumes of the kind of care that we get from the Panama City and Lynn Haven community.”

After he and his fellow Airmen loaded their vehicles full of the care packages, Busha shared that it was overwhelming to see the amount of support that the local community exhibited.

Although this was a first of its kind during his time at Tyndall, Busha is excited to see more events like this in the future.
