TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- "I know members of Team Tyndall have many questions, and I want to do my best to answer them," said Col. Brian Laidlaw, 325th Fighter Wing Commander.
1. Q: I heard a rumor that GTC credit limits were going to be increased to cover expenses. Is this true?
A: "That is true. Your limits were all automatically increased to $20K. Your limits will continue to increase as the evacuation continues."
2. Q: When can we expect to come back to Tyndall Air Force Base?
A: "Do not come back to Tyndall Air Force Base until you receive my order. Balfour Beatty is performing their initial inspection of base housing. Once that information is gathered, we will work to provide it to you. Tyndall's mission is to clean up the base, to make it safe for your return."
3. Q: Is my base housing allowance still being paid to Balfour Beatty?
A: "If you live on base, yes your BAH will continue to go to Balfour Beatty. In the event officials deem your house uninhabitable, those payments would stop at that point. You will continue to receive your lodging allowance under the evacuation order. You can find additional entitlement guidance at www.AFPC.AF.mil/hurricane, along with other helpful information to help Team Tyndall."
4. Q: Is the minimum evacuation distance still 100 miles?
A: "No. I have authorized an amendment to the evacuation order, decreasing the minimum distance from Tyndall from 100 miles to 50 miles. Hurlburt Field and Eglin Air Force Base, neighboring Air Force installations, can provide regional support and assistance to you. Members are still not allowed to come within 50 miles of Tyndall Air Force Base.
5. Q: Is the maximum evacuation distance still 500 miles?
A: "No, I have authorized an amendment to the evacuation order to increase the maximum distance to any CONUS location."
