The 325th Force Support Squadron hosted Military Spouse Appreciation Day May 3 at the Airman and Family Readiness Center.

One hundred and eight spouses and children were treated to free food, door prizes, a children's craft area and an assortment of information about the base.

The Base Commissary donated food, and the Health and Wellness Center made food for the event and 10 base agencies set up booths which to provided a wealth of information about the base.

"We started planning this event a month and a half out and coordinated with the other base agencies," said Michelle Tufano, 325th FSS community readiness consultant. "We had help from three key spouses, Connie Wallace, Michelle Henson and Amy Holmes, who helped collect and manage the door prizes. Getting help from them helped make it a very successful event. Everyone left with some sort of door prize."

Ms. Tufano said they put on this event because they wanted to do more than just say thank you on this important day.

"It is important to show our military spouses that they are appreciated," Ms. Tufano said. "It is difficult having to uproot your life and start over so many times in a career, so it's nice to have a small token of appreciation on this day for all that they do."

Madye Biastock, Team Tyndall spouse, went to the event to collect information and just see what it was all about.

"I think it is awesome," said Mrs. Biastock. "It is nice that there is a day dedicated to us. We might not do as much as our spouses do, but we still do a lot in support especially while our spouses deploy."
