Tyndall Staff Sgt. Travis Gregory, 325th Maintenance Operations Squadron, maintenance training instructor, earned the Maintenance Staff Professional of the Year award in the NCO category during the 2012 Maintenance and Staff Professionals of the Year banquet in Hangar 1 March 15.

The New Kensington, Pa., native said it felt pretty good to receive the award. The award recognizes the sustained performance of individuals making the most substantial contributions to the group's mission.

"It felt great to win an award," he said. "It was the first award I've won since I've been in the Air Force."

Sergeant Gregory has been in the Air Force for seven years and has worked in the maintenance career field throughout his enlistment.

"My favorite part about his job is to teach some of the more technical classes such as the F-22 Raptor engine run and F-22 inlet and exhaust inspection," Sergeant Gregory said.

The MPOY banquet recognizes the achievements of the maintenance group and honors maintenance professionals each year.

The original maintenance professional award was established in 1979 to recognize outstanding performance of direct, sortie-producing maintenance specialists. Support, training and staff personnel make vital contributions to effective sortie production. Tyndall recognizes these important professionals in their diversified career fields.
