Tyndall Staff Sgt. Christina Johnson, 325th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron F-22 Raptor supply journeyman, earned the Outstanding Supply Person of the Year award during the 2012 Maintenance and Staff Professionals of the Year banquet in Hangar 1 March 15.

The Birmingham, Ala., native said it was nice to receive the award. It is given to the Airman who demonstrates outstanding supply performance.

"I was pleasantly surprised and appreciated the recognition after paying my dues all these years," she said.

Sergeant Johnson has been in the Air Force and at Tyndall for five years. She has worked in the maintenance career field throughout her enlistment. Her favorite part about her job is working with maintenance and the down-to-earth atmosphere.

"Maintainers are a diverse and a fun-loving bunch that makes working beside them seem more like family than coworkers," Sergeant Johnson said.

"Sergeant Johnson is someone that I can continually count on to do a great job with anything placed in her lap," said Master Sgt. Elizabeth Asher, 43rd Aircraft Maintenance Unit supply section chief. "I can say that since I've met Sergeant Johnson I have been impressed by her initiative and motivation. She constantly improves at any task I have ever given her."

The MPOY banquet recognized the achievements of the maintenance group and honors maintenance professionals each year.

The original maintenance professional award was established in 1979 to recognize outstanding performance of direct, sortie-producing maintenance specialists. Support, training and staff personnel make vital contributions to effective sortie production. Tyndall recognizes these important professionals in their diversified career fields.
