Team Tyndall recognized Master Sgt. Mike G. Mascorro, Personnel Support for Contingency Operations Training chief Det. 1, 823rd RED HORSE, as the Senior NCO of the Year at the Annual Awards Banquet Feb. 20.

"I feel honored and humbled to have won such a prestigious award," said the Corpus Christi, Texas native. "There were many leaders, mentors, peers and unit members that helped me along the way over this last year. It is for their example, guidance and assistance I am grateful. This award represents each and everyone one of them."

Among the many highlighted achievements of Sergeant Mascorro were delivering 1,600 hours training and managing more than $28 million in the PERSCO training program in support of joint operations.

"[He] deserves this award due to the dedication, commitment and selfless acts he demonstrates everyday he dawns the uniform as a Senior NCO in the Air Force," said Senior Master Sgt. Efrain Reyes who is Sergeant Mascorro' s supervisor.

While working toward his bachelor's degree, the sergeant led a local rescue mission drive that delivered 10,000 pounds of food to Panama City, Fla. area families.

"I would like to recognize my family for all the support they have provided me," Sergeant Mascorro said. "Without them by my side, I don't really think I would have been able to win this award. They took care of the home front, enabling me to focus on the Air Force mission. They are definitely a testament to the term 'Military Family.'"
