Mr. Michael Bernatt, 325th Security Forces Squadron provost, earned the 2012 Team Tyndall Annual Award for Category II Civilian of the Year during a ceremony at the Annual Awards Banquet Feb. 20.

The Miami, Fla. native was named for the award among eight other nominees.

"There are always many hard working and deserving people to compete against here at Tyndall so I am pleased to be recognized," said Mr. Bernatt. "I am grateful to God, my supervisors, mentors and Team Tyndall members that helped make this award possible."

Among his achievements, Mr. Bernatt authored new squadron instruction defining maritime procedures, fusing joint operations with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the U.S. Coast Guard. He directed 180 interpersonal foot patrols in base housing, building relationships with youth, and reduced vandalism by 60 percent. He also coordinated visits with Twin Oaks Juvenile Development Center, inspiring and mentoring 11 at risk kids.

"Mr. Bernatt is a direct representation of the hard work and professionalism that occurs throughout the entire 325th SFS," said Maj. Anthony McCarty, 325th SFS commander. "His leadership and professionalism make him a tremendous asset to Team Tyndall. The Centurions are incredibly proud of his achievements."
