Senior Airman Nicholas Brison, 337th Air Control Squadron, earned the 2012 Team Tyndall Annual Award for Honor Guard Member of the Year during a ceremony at the Annual Awards Banquet Feb. 20.

Airman Brison, a native of Millersport, Ohio, has been a member of the Tyndall Honor Guard for nearly two years.

During fiscal year 2012, among other achievements, he participated in 38 details, consisting of 160 hours and 2,874 miles of travel. He was also selected as interim flight sergeant, managing two rotations for eight Airmen, four funerals and three color details and assumed NCO in charge duties, commanding 15 funerals and three color details.

"I was a little surprised I won the award, but it was truly an honor," Airman Brison said. "I feel privileged just to be a part of the Tyndall Honor Guard and to be able to do nice things for our heroes, past and present. With that being said, winning the annual award was pretty gnarly."

His Honor Guard supervisor was not short on praises.

"Airman Brison is a guardsman that you can count on," said Master Sgt. Larry Cerbantec, Tyndall Honor Guard superintendent. "If need be, he is there to step up and be a leader."

Airmen Brison was also grateful to his leadership and others for supporting him.

Base Annual Award winners will go on to compete at the Air Combat Command level.
