Free screening Published Jan. 14, 2013 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The 325th Medical Group, the Health and Wellness Center and the Bay County Health Department are teaming up to host a free Diabetes screening 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Base Exchange. The screening takes less than ten minutes and according to the 325th MDG, could add years to a lifespan. Diabetes is the leading cause of heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, limb amputation and new-onset blindness. It is also the 5th leading cause of death by disease in Florida. Lifestyle changes such as eating healthier, increasing physical activity and losing a modest amount of weight can prevent or delay development of type 2 diabetes in those who are at high risk for the disease.
