Air Education and Training command recently recognized the 325th Medical Group with three medical service awards.

Airman 1st Class Tyler Washum earned the U.S. Air Force Public Health Airman of the Year Award and Staff Sgt. Xavier Coley earned the Aerospace Physiology Noncommissioned Officer of the Year Award. Both Airmen are assigned to the 325th Aerospace Medicine Squadron.

"These are humble people who do fantastic work and have a great work ethic, and they don't do it for the recognition, they do it because it's the right thing," said Lt. Col. Robert York, 325th AMDS commander. "It's outstanding to have two of our Airman win and it's a great honor to have our squadron recognized. It shows the excellence, not only in the MDG, but also in AMDS."

Staff Sgt. Kyle Bocus from the 325th Medical Support Squadron earned the Laboratory Noncommissioned Officer of the Year Award.

"I was really surprised by the award actually, I didn't realize my name was going up," he said. "Now, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for the Air Force level award."

"Sergeant Bocus is an outstanding NCO, and a fine laboratory professional," said Master Sgt. Scott Jenkins, 325th MDSS superintendent. "He was nominated while he was deployed, and his package was based on his outstanding accomplishments before and during his deployment."

Award recipients will go on to compete at the Air Force level.

Note: At the time of the awards, the unit was still an AETC unit. The 325th MDG will compete within Air Combat Command next year.
