Hawks soar over Tyndall Tigers Published Dec. 5, 2012 By Mr. William Sharpe 601st Air Operations Center TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The Tyndall Tigers men's varsity basketball team returned to the hardwood after the Thanksgiving holiday break to face the visiting Robins Air Force Base, Ga., Hawks in Southeastern Military Athletic Conference action this past weekend. The Tigers and Hawks engaged in an old fashioned defensive battle. The Hawks took a 5-point lead, 26-21 at the half. In the second half, the scoring improved for both squads as they finally developed a rythym. Robins maintained the lead throughout the second half, with 3:29 remaining in the contest Tyndall pulled within 4 points, but would get no closer as Robins went to seal the victory. Tryvon Cody led Tyndall in scoring with 14 points followed by Terrence Raby and Justyn Blanton with 10 points each. Dan Cooper led in assists with 8, and Allan Warfield led in rebounding,11, and blocked shots, 4. Tony Coston led Robins in scoring with a game high 16 points. The Tigers will travel to Hurlburt Field, Fla., on Saturday to challenge the first place Commandos and will return home next weekend to face Duke Field, Fla. Final: Robins-61, Tyndall-49
