Base operators no longer available Published Oct. 16, 2012 By 2nd Lt. Andrea Valencia 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Effective Aug. 24, Tyndall Directory Assistance (the base operator) contract is no longer available due to changes implemented early in the year for Air Education and Training Command's Culture of Cost Consciousness. An automated call tree will be utilized to assist customers in Base Locator/Directory Services when calling 283-1110 or dialing '0' from on base. Customers may also use the Tyndall Base Guide found here (http://www.united-publishers.com/TyndallGuide/index.htm l) for additional directory service. "When customers the call the old operator number, they will receive the automated system," said Jerry Flowers, 325th Communications Squadron chief of operations flight. "We took the list of most frequently used base numbers and created the new call system to connect them with the base organizations." Additionally, the 325 CS in conjunction with Headquarters AETC established an automated conference call reservation system. Conference calls can now be set up online at https://eis.aetc.af.mil/conferencecallreservations/default.aspx. "The link includes a user guide and step by step instructions," said Master Sgt Lisa Spicer, 325th Communications Squadron cyber transport section chief. "Customers will receive an email confirmation with the date, time and number requested within 24 hours for their requested conference call." To make a long distance commercial call, there is no change to the established process. Long distance calls require a PIN. Users request a PIN from the squadron's Telephone Control Officer. "One of the other changes we made is now all numbers on base have global DSN access", said Sergeant Spicer. "Every phone number on base has that option now. If for some reason they don't, users can call their TCO and put in a work order so we can change it." Any problems with automated directory services should be worked with the squadron TCO. If a customer doesn't know who their squadron TCO is, they can email the Tyndall Communication Focal Point at tyndall.cfp@tyndall.af.mil to receive a current listing.
