The Tyndall Tigers men's varsity basketball team fell to the visting Hurlburt Field Commandos in their home opener, 79-69 in the Southeastern Military Athletic Conference, action this past weekend.

In Saturday's action, the Tigers offensive woes continued as they fell behind 18-2, with 14:02 remaining in the first half. Behind Tysen Pina's 18 first-half points, Tyndall battled back to cut Hurlburt's lead to 10 points, before the Commandos went on a late run to take a 43-28 lead at the half.

In the second half, Tyndall steadily cut into the Commandos lead and with 2:17 pulled within 6 points 72-66. But poor free throw shooting would prove to be the Tigers' undoing as they missed several crucial free throwns down the stretch, while Hurlburt Field connected on their free throws to seal the victory.

Tysen Pina had a triple-double; 43 points, 15 rebounds and 10 block shots to lead the Tigers' efforts; followed by Dan Cooper with 14 points and 8 assists. Derrick Railey led the Commandos in scoring with 15 points.

The Tigers (0-2) will travel to Duke Field on Saturday and will return home next weekend to face Ft. Benning.
