The 325th Fighter Wing commander learned the duties of a 325th Mission Support Group Airman Oct. 5, as part of the Airman's Shadow program.

Brigadier Gen. John McMullen, 325th FW commander, shadowed Airman 1st Class Daniel Muldowney, 325th Civil Engineer Squadron emergency management training apprentice, while he performed his daily responsibilities at the 325th MSG.

Airman Muldowney showed the commander his daily duties as an emergency management training apprentice.

"After introducing him to my flight, the general and I toured the facility and the Emergency Operations Center," said Airman Muldowney. "I briefed him on how we prepare the base populace for hurricanes. I also informed him of the different courses our office instructs, such as chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear [CBRN], Air Force Emergency Response Operations/Unit Control Center [AERO/UCC], emergency management [EM], as well as the scheduling process that goes along with them.

"After that, I showed the general our Mobile Communication Center and response equipment to include chemical, biological, and radiation detectors and identifiers. The general even participated in identifying an exercise sample," he said.

Airman Muldowney develops, maintains, coordinates and executes annual training schedules that support the installation EM program. He also maintains and publishes training statistics. In addition, he also provides training analysis on unit scheduling, attendance, and classroom utilization rates for the installation EM program.

"He is always willing to learn all aspects of the career field and offers help in every section when he is finished with his daily duties," said Tech. Sgt. Francine Vincent, 325th CES NCO in charge of EM operations and Airman Muldowney's supervisor. "His work ethic and dedication to the mission are above reproach. He organized and manned an EM display booth during the 601st Air and Space Operations Center's Safety Day explaining the capabilities that the EM flight offers the base.

"He also assisted applied research associates in developing a new Air Force training course. Out of the uniform, he dedicates his off duty time to be a Callaway Rebel Mighty Mite Assistant Coach and spends multiple weekends cleaning Rosenwald High School, creating a better learning environment for more than 400 students."

During the commander's shadow, he was able to display his hard working character.

"I was honored that a person of the general's importance and position was willing to take time from his schedule to see what an Airman does on a daily basis," said Airman Muldowney.

The Airman's Shadow program is a 325th FW commander program designed to recognize 325th FW personnel. The program provides an opportunity for the commander to meet with the Airmen and get a first-hand look at what Tyndall Airmen are doing.
