Tyndall celebrated the Base Exchange's recent $6.7 million renovation project completion with a ribbon cutting ceremony Aug. 16.

The 325th Fighter Wing commander, Brigadier Gen. John McMullen, spoke briefly at the event.

"I get asked a lot what comes first, the mission or the people," said General McMullen. "I am one of those guys who at the end of the day says the mission has to get done. That being said, I want to keep my eye on the people. I spend a lot of time thinking about how we can make the quality of life for the Airmen and their families, both on and off duty, better. The Base Exchange is a huge part of that."

The renovations bagan in October 2011 and the investment has brought many noticeable upgrades including 'fast lane' checkouts, adding onto the food court and moving military clothing sales into the mall. Additionally, smaller changes such as new lighting and fixtures complete the upgrades and are all steps aimed at creating a more pleasurable, convenient shopping experience for customers.
