Technical Sgt. Joshua Myers, 325th Operations Support Squadron air traffic controller NCO in charge of standardization and evaluation, was recently selected for Stripes for Exceptional Performers promotion to Technical Sergeant by Air Education and Training Command.

AETC had 22 available stripes to hand-down throughout their bases. Fourteen Team Tyndall members were selected for submission and two were selected.

"I joined the Air Force to serve my country," said Sergeant Myers. "I also knew I wanted to start a family and be able to provide a good future for them."

Sergeant Myers is one of very few ATC Airmen dual-qualified in both the ATC tower and radar approach control. He said the favorite part of his job is controlling air traffic.

"The rush of working busy traffic is awesome," Sergeant Myers said. "The best part is when you don't have time to think just act on the skills that God gave you."

Sergeant Myers said he is honored to receive the promotion.

"I want to thank God first and foremost," said Sergeant Myers. "I also couldn't have accomplished any of it without my wife and two daughters for supporting me and my supervision for the opportunity to succeed."

Sergeant Myers's supervision is confident there is no one more deserving of the promotion.

"Sergeant Myers is extremely hard working," said Master Sgt. Michael Sweeney, 325th OSS tower chief controller. "He can fill the billet for tower or RAPCON and is responsible for rating new Airmen. He has been a real go-getter."
