One hundred and thirty-six individuals from Team Tyndall and the surrounding community participated in an Air Force ball golf tournament July 27 at the Pelican Point Golf Course.

"The turnout was excellent," said Capt. Steven Vega, 325th Air Control Squadron chief of standardizations and evaluation, and project officer for the 2012 Air Force ball committee. "We did a lot better than I expected. We maxed out all the slots we had available."

The funds acquired from the event will go toward the annual Air Force Ball, scheduled to be held Sept. 15 at the Edgewater Resort in Panama City Beach, Fla.

"We raised $2,092 today, which is exactly what we were shooting for," said Capt. Vega. "The money will be used to offset the costs of the tickets."

Played in a four-person team scramble, each participant received a voucher for two free golf clubs, along with a handful of other complimentary items.

"There are goody bags in each of the carts," Capt. Vega said. "There are AAFES gift cards, tanning gift cards, and some gift cards toward local restaurants."

The first place team, the individual with the longest drive, and the individual who was closest to the pin, were awarded with various golf-themed prizes.

Overall, the event was a huge success and showcased the camaraderie surrounding the military community.
