The 325th Fighter Wing commander learned the duties of a 325th Operations Support Squadron Airman Aug. 15, as part of the Airman's Shadow program.

Brigadier Gen. James S. Browne, 325th FW commander, shadowed Senior Airman David Urich, 325th OSS air traffic controller, while he performed his daily responsibilities.

"It was a great honor," said Airman Urich. "I began with explaining the day's pre-duty configuration, and many other aspects of the day's flying conditions. The general then got to see how we train with the use of simulators."

Airman Urich showed General Browne what he gets to do as an air traffic controller. They discussed weather, airspace, runway configurations, rules and regulations. The general then watched and listened as Airman Urich worked live air traffic.

"Airman Urich is a true go-getter who is always looking for ways to improve the mission, while not neglecting his fellow Airmen," said Staff Sgt. Thomas Holmes, Airman Urich's supervisor. "He is also driven to succeed and works hard to be the best in not only air traffic control, but in all endeavors. He most recently has been selected for promotion to staff sergeant."

The Airman's Shadow program is a 325th FW commander program designed to recognize 325th FW personnel. The program provides an opportunity for the commander to meet with the Airmen and get a first-hand look at what Tyndall Airmen are doing every day.
