The 325th Fighter Wing commander learned the duties of a 325th Medical Group Airman June 23, as part of the Airman's Shadow program.

Brigadier Gen. James S. Browne, 325th FW commander, shadowed Staff Sgt. Desmond Scott, 325th Medical Operations Squadron, noncommissioned officer in charge of Raptor Element, while he performed his daily responsibilities at the 325th MDG.

"I was extremely excited when I was selected to participate in the program and honored to have the experience of showing our wing commander exactly what we do here at the 325th MDG as well as what we are capable of," said Sergeant Scott.

Sergeant Scott showed General Browne the process of checking a patient in from start to finish, how to apply a blood pressure cuff and obtain a pulse rate. Together, they administered an I.V. and stitched a laceration on a manican using sutures.

"General Browne performed tasks that generally take weeks or months to learn," Sergeant Scott said. "I believe the shadow program is a great opportunity for leadership to get out and get to know the Airmen doing the day-to-day tasks, as well as for Airmen to get to know their base leadership."

"Sergeant Scott is an exceptional Airman with invaluable assets who always puts the mission first and consistently demonstrates superior knowledge in his duties as an emergency medical technician," said Capt. Donald Spaduzzi, Sergeant Scott's supervisor and nominator for the program. "He is a junior noncommissioned officer of the highest caliber who epitomizes integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do."

The Airman's Shadow program is a 325th FW commander program designed to recognize 325th FW personnel. The program provides an opportunity for the commander to meet with the Airmen and get a first-hand look at what Tyndall Airmen are doing every day.
