Brigadier Gen. James Browne, 325th FW commander, shadowed Airman 1st Class Karen Franck, 325th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, bioenvironmental engineering technician, while she performed her daily responsibilities at the 325th Medical Group. "Not too many people have the opportunity to have the 325th FW commander learn about their job," said Airman Franck. "It was a great experience, and I'm honored that I got the chance to have General Browne shadow me." Airman Franck and the commander completed gas mask fit testing and performed a white powder substance exercise. "I got to show him a variety of equipment we use," she added. "General Browne got to wear a powered air purifying respirator with suit and gloves. He then got to run samples on our HAZMAT identification device which is used to detect chemicals." "Airman Franck is 100 percent dedicated and is always looking for ways to improve the mission. She puts safety first while performing bioenvironmental engineering duties," said Staff Sgt. Lacy Johnson, Airman Franck's supervisor and nominator for the program. "She has managed the base respiratory protection program ensuring safe work practices are met. This program is normally managed by a noncommissioned officer, but Airman Franck manages it flawlessly." The Airman's Shadow program is a 325th FW commander program designed to recognize 325th FW personnel. The program provides an opportunity for the commander to meet with the Airmen and get a first-hand look at what Tyndall Airmen are doing.
