Kirsten Wicker 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Gloversville, N.Y., native U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Edward J. Quinn, assigned to the Air Force Civil Engineer Support Agency at Tyndall and a 1988 Gloversville High School graduate, was recently awarded the 2010 Paul R. Smith Noncommissioned Officer Medal from the Society of American Military Engineers for outstanding service and contributions to the Society and the community. Sergeant Quinn has 20 years of military service and is a career field manager. The Paul R. Smith NCO Medal is given annually to the active duty, Reserve, National Guard or retired NCO who has shown outstanding leadership in support of the society and has made significant contributions to military engineering over the past five years. AFCESA members have shown exceptional leadership in mentoring and education programs, including involvement in MATHCOUNTS competitions, National Engineers Week, and science fairs. Through the Education and Mentoring Fund Golf Tournament, agency members have also raised a record $11,000 in college scholarships in 2010 alone. AFCESA is a field operating agency that reports to the Office of the Civil Engineer at Headquarters United States Air Force, Washington, D.C. Agency officials provide professional readiness, energy and operations support, tools and practices to maximize Air Force engineering agile combat support worldwide. Tyndall is home of the 325th Fighter Wing. Tyndall's mission is training the world's best Air Dominance team, to include F-22 Raptor pilots for the U.S. Air Force. Located in the Florida Panhandle, Tyndall is about 13 miles east of Panama City.
