The 325th Fighter Wing commander learned the duties of a 325th Maintenance Group Airman April 4, as part of the Commander's Shadow program.

Brigadier Gen. James S. Browne, 325th FW commander, shadowed Airman 1st Class Jerylmayne White, a propulsion journeyman and engine test cell member.

General Browne received a crew briefing from Airman White and his immediate supervisor, Tech. Sgt. Aleric Dubbels, 325th Maintenance Squadron test cell section chief.

"It's very nice to see the wing commander take time out of his day to take an interest in the Airmen here on base," said Airman White. "He took a genuine interest in my personal life and what I do for the Air Force. It was a great privilege and an honor to have been chosen to have him shadow me."

Airman White escorted the general from the test cell building to the hush house where they accomplished a pre-run inspection of the hush house and engine, ran the F-119 engine, and completed a post-run inspection.

"I showed Gen. Browne an F-119 engine run first hand," Airman White said. "I took him through my daily procedures to see a fuel and oil leak check performed while the engine was in idle, the inside of the noise suppression tube and the engine taken to 150 percent or to max, which he seemed really excited about."

Airman White repairs, inspects, troubleshoots and tests 66 F-119 engines. Airman White conducts periodic maintenance on 16 pieces of support equipment valued at $3 million. He is also the 325th MXS Booster Club president.

Based on his involvement, the squadron has improved participation in both local and base community activities and events such as the Mardi Gras parades held in Panama City and Pier Park. He also managed the squadron concession booth during the 2011 Gulf Coast Salute Open House and Air Show.

"Airman White is a true go-getter who is always looking for ways to improve the mission and put safety first while performing duties," said Staff Sgt. Joseph Alers, Airman White's supervisor and nominator for the program. "His attention to detail, commitment and excellence in all we do; earned him the squadron's selection for the 2nd Quarter Team Tyndall Award."

The Commander's Shadow program is a 325th FW commander program designed to recognize 325th FW personnel. The program provides an opportunity for the commander to meet Airmen and get a first-hand look at what Tyndall Airmen are doing.
