As part of the Commander's Shadow program, the 325th Fighter Wing Commander learned the duties of a 325th Civil Engineer Squadron Airman March 15.

Brigadier Gen. James Browne, 325th FW commander, shadowed Staff Sgt. Daniel Jernstedt, 325th CES noncommissioned officer in charge of emergency management operations. He received a tour of the Emergency Operations Center while Sergeant Jernstedt discussed his daily responsibilities.

After Sergeant Jernstedt introduced the commander to emergency management personnel, he gave General Browne an emergency management briefing and a tour of the emergency operations center.

Sergeant Jernstedt develops and orchestrates Tyndall's Emergency Management Staff Assistance Visit program. He coordinates all Tyndall EM program support efforts with 42 unit EM representatives. Sergeant Jernstedt also responds to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosives incidents, as well as instructing CBRNE courses.

"Sergeant Jernstedt is the true definition of an achiever," said Master Sgt. Mozelle Gibson, 325th CES, Sergeant Jernstedt's supervisor and nominator for the program. "He is constantly looking for ways to improve the mission and he always puts safety first while performing NCOIC, EM duties. Sergeant Jernstedt shows involvement in the community by volunteering for events such as Tyndall's Summer Fun 411, as well as supporting Operation Jr. Raptor."

The Commander's Shadow program provides an opportunity for the commander to see what Tyndall Airmen do in each of their daily jobs and tasks.
