The 325th Fighter Wing commander experienced the daily operations of a pharmacy technician Nov. 23, as part of the Commander's Shadow Program.

Brigadier Gen. James Browne, 325th Fighter Wing commander, shadowed Staff Sgt. Darius Cook, 325th Medical Support Squadron pharmacy technician, while he conducted his daily duties.

"It was great that I had a chance to meet the commander," said Sergeant Cook. "He came out here and wanted to see the pharmacy and how the process works by getting some hands on experience."

Sergeant Cook is a frontline supervisor who provides training, leadership and supervision for six technicians and five volunteers filling and dispensing 14,000 prescriptions monthly.

"He manages the pharmacy's High Dollar program, obtaining over 300 non-formulary medications for 101 patients with an annual savings of over $831,000" said Tech. Sgt. Denise Brown, 325th MDSS pharmacy technician and Sergeant Cook's supervisor. "Sergeant Cook is hard working, dedicated and is head and shoulders above his peers."

Sergeant Cook hails from Mobile, Ala. and has served more than nine years in the Air Force.
