The holiday season is fast approaching and while many people are traveling away from Tyndall, lodging is opening its doors to friends and family. The Sand Dollar Inn on Tyndall has already begun to allow friends and families of military members to stay here during the holiday season.

"Lodging has a large foot print on base," said Alan Tremaine, 325th Force Support Squadron lodging general manager. "We cover a large area and have 48 facilities throughout the complex. Our main mission here is to provide clean and comfortable accommodations that exceed the expectations of our guests."

Due to low occupancy during the season, military members are able to make reservations for friends and families now. Additionally, the facilities have had many recent upgrades such as flat screen televisions, pillow-top mattresses, a new gazebo in the common area and new barbeque grills in the temporary living facility area. All units now also have wireless internet capability.

"The Inn is about continuous improvement for Tyndall's continuous mission," said Marco Boyd, 325th FSS quality assurance evaluator.

More than 100 employees work to keep the facilities clean and ready for guests around the clock. There are also many different types of rooms available. Currently, there 52 TLF units located in base housing and are available on a first come, first serve basis. They come with the option of either three or four bedrooms. Some of the TLFs allow pets for an additional cost. There are 316 regular rooms also available on a first come, first serve basis.

The TLF units are $52 per night and there is an additional $10 charge per night for a pet-friendly unit. Rooms are $39 per night. They can be reserved for any length of time lodging can support.
