Commander shadows 325th ACS Airman Published Sept. 7, 2010 By Senior Airman Veronica McMahon 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The 325th Fighter Wing commander experienced the daily operations of a 325th Air Control Squadron pilot simulator trainer Sept. 3 as part of the Commander's Shadow Program. Brigadier Gen. James Browne, 325th FW commander, shadowed Senior Airman Eric Parker, 325th ACS pilot simulator trainer, while he conducted his daily duties and a pilot simulation. "It was nice to get that kind of recognition," said Airman Parker. "Not many people can say they have had the commander of the base watch them do what they do every day." General Browne watched Airman Parker as he conducted a pilot simulation of an F-15 2v4, meaning two F-15s against four Russian aircraft (MiGs). "We also toured the facility and I showed him my work area and additional duties," said Airman Parker. "It was good to know that he cares about what everyone on base is doing and he takes the time out of his busy schedule." Airman Parker's primary duties include supporting the training of over 180 officer students annually in the Air Battle Manager course. He also performs all functions of a simulated pilot by maneuvering simulated air refueling aircraft, tactical fighters, and combined forces during daily simulation training. He also acts as aircraft control agencies during large force exercises and replicates tactics and radio communications for up to 20 fighter and special mission aircraft. "He is a true go-getter who continually searches for ways to improve the mission of the 325th ACS," said Tech. Sgt. Maurice Jones, 325th ACS current operations noncommissioned officer-in-charge. "He tackled the difficulties of becoming a pilot simulator trainer head-on by learning more about the fighter platforms he was replicating through self-study." Airman Parker hails from Cleveland, Texas and has served two years in the military.
