Oil containment booms in place
Oil containment booms lay along a beach on Tyndall July 1. The base has approximately 7,000 feet of boom, which form a barrier that skims oil and debris from the surface of the water. The boom is foldable, lightweight and is made of a vinyl-coated polyester. Installed at Tyndall in early May, all boom placements are per the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Mobile Area Contingency Plan.
